In a recent press release, Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) announced that its Long Term Acute Care Hospitals (LTACHs) in Corbin and Madisonville, Kentucky, have new Chief Executive Officers.
Effective October 9, 2017, Tuan (Tommy) Le is the new CEO of ContinueCARE Hospital at Baptist Health Corbin, Corbin, Ky. Concurrently, Lea Ann Klarner assumes the CEO role at ContinueCARE Hospital at Baptist Health Madisonville, Madisonville, Ky.
“Both Tommy and Lea Ann are highly dynamic, accomplished healthcare leaders and possess the numerous skills, talents, experiences and foresight that are required for clinical and operational success,” said April Myers, Senior Vice-President of Post-Acute Operations for CHC. “We are very fortunate to be able to bring their valuable LTACH expertise and leadership to benefit the communities they serve.”
In his most recent role as Administrator/CEO of CHRISTUS Dubuis Hospital of Beaumont, Le was accountable for the successful transition and relocation of an 18-bed LTACH and responsible for the day-to-day operations of a freestanding and hospital-in-a-hospital model with a combined 51-bed LTACH. He was instrumental in developing key relationships with healthcare partners and ICU physicians, as well as key community constituents. Prior, Le was the Director of the 30-bed inpatient facility, Rehabilitation at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital, Corpus Christi-Shoreline, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
With executive experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit healthcare settings, Klarner was most recently the CEO of Crittenden Health Systems, Marion, Ky., a community-owned, 48-bed not-for-profit rural hospital. Earlier, she was the CEO of Select Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind., a 32-bed LTACH offering specialized programs for chronically ill patients. A collaborative relationship builder, Klarner developed and improved inter-departmental connections across the healthcare system.
CHC owns and manages 11 LTACHs in Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas, through its not-for-profit organization, CHC ContinueCARE. Often located within a larger “host” hospital or nearby building, LTACHs typically have 30-40 beds, serve patients who require extended hospitalization of 25 days or more, and bridge the recovery gap for those patients with specialized care needs. They also formulate and implement a patient-specific medical and therapeutic recovery plan.
