Anuja Vaidya -

Three executives leading IT operations, including the CIO, have left Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health, a health system spokesperson confirmed to Becker's Hospital Review. The health system named Chris Van Pelt its interim CIO.

The three leaders who left are:

• Senior Vice President and CIO Jonathan Manis
• Chief Information Services Operating Officer Stuart James
• Director of Information Services Finance Randy Davis

Sutter Health's spokesperson declined to directly answer questions about the departures and interim appointment, but furnished the following written statement:

"While we can't discuss personnel decisions, we can confirm that three senior leaders at Sutter Health Information Services have left the organization. We are in the process of engaging a highly qualified leader, Chris Van Pelt, to serve as interim Chief Information Officer. Van Pelt, along with a multi-disciplinary team, will help accelerate our efforts to connect technology with our clinical operations as part of our ongoing commitment to deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care."

In May, Sutter Health experienced a communications outage that prevented access to its EHR system. The systemwide outage was resolved after more than 24 hours of downtime. The issue was caused by an activation of a fire suppression system at one of its data centers.
