Anuja Vaidya -

Blain Claypool, CEO of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho, will resign, effective Sept. 27, according to The Lewiston Tribune.

In a memo sent to the hospital's board, employees and volunteers Aug. 26, Mr. Claypool announced his plans to step down, stating, "I have determined it is best for me to move on to another venture and be closer to family support in Reno, [Nev.] on a more consistent basis," according to the Tribune.

Mr. Claypool's 19-year-old daughter was killed in a shooting this summer.

The hospital has started the search for his replacement.

Mr. Claypool became CEO of the hospital in September 2017. In his memo, he said that the hospital has "risen to become the regional provider of care, and I am proud of our work."
