Seattle Children's appoints chief academic officer

Seattle Children's tapped Leslie R. Walker-Harding, MD, to serve as senior vice president and chief academic officer, effective Feb. 15, 2019.

Dr. Walker-Harding was also named chair of the pediatrics department and associate dean for the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. Seattle Children’s is the primary teaching, clinical and research site for the UW School of Medicine's pediatrics department.

Dr. Walker-Harding currently serves as a professor and chair of the pediatrics department at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, as well as medical director and pediatrician-in-chief at Penn State Children's Hospital, both located in Hershey, Pa. She previously served in several faculty positions at UW's medical school and in the UW School of Public Health in Seattle. She has also served as co-director of the adolescent substance abuse program and as division chief of adolescent medicine at Seattle Children's.

Additionally, she chairs the American Pediatric Society's Committee on Diversity and Inclusion and serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics' Committee on Substance Use and Prevention.
