Presence Health CEO tenders resignation 1 week after Amita Health merger: 5 things to know

Chicago-based Presence Health President and CEO Michael Englehart is resigning, effective March 30.

Here are five things to know:

1. The resignation comes one week after Presence became a part of St. Louis-based Ascension and added its sites of care to Arlington Heights, Ill.-based Amita Health.

2. Mr. Englehart wrote in a staff memo he plans to he will pursue new opportunities.

"After much discussion with my family, I've decided to take some time off before pursuing new opportunities. This decision was not an easy one to reach, but I believe it is the best decision for my family and me and, as a result, my last day will be on Friday, March 30, 2018," he wrote.

3. He has served at the helm of the Presence Health since October 2015.

4. During his tenure, he helped facilitate a financial turnaround at the previously struggling Presence Health, according to the Chicago Tribune.

5. Prior to joining Presence Health, Mr. Englehart worked for 10-plus years at Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care.

"I know that Presence Health is in good hands as it moves forward with Ascension and Amita Health. I wish all of you the very best and I thank you again for your support, partnership and your dedication to our healing ministry," he wrote in the staff memo.
