Pocahontas Memorial Hospital selects new CEO

Marlington, W. Va.-based Pocahontas Memorial Hospital has chosen Mary Beth Barras its new CEO, according to The Pocahontas Times.

Ms. Barr will replace Barbara Lay, set to retire Oct. 1. Ms. Barr has a nursing background and rose through the leadership ranks at Petersburg, W. Va.-based Grant Memorial Hospital, serving as director of nursing, director of patient services, COO and CEO.

"I believe Mary Beth Barr will bring knowledge and experience to Pocahontas Memorial Hospital that will be a tremendous benefit for the hospital and the people we serve," said Ms. Lay, according to The Pocahontas Times. "She is well-respected in the healthcare industry, and she has been a leader resource for me during my own career."

Ms. Barr has served on the boards of the West Virginia Hospital Association, the West Virginia Center for Nursing, and was the WVHA delegate to the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board.
