Pat O'Donnell to retire as president of WellSpan Summit Health

Pat O'Donnell, executive vice president for York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health and president of Chambersburg, Pa.-based WellSpan Summit Health, will retire next year.

Mr. O'Donnell will retire at the end of June 2020 after serving the local health system for nearly 35 years. He will continue to lead WellSpan Health's operations in Franklin and Cumberland counties until he retires.

"As you can imagine, my decision comes with an absolute mix of emotion. Serving this organization has been my greatest honor and privilege, and yet I am excited to move into the next phase of life with my family," he said in a news release. "This is the right time."

During Mr. O'Donnell's tenure, he was controller of Chambersburg Hospital, CFO for Summit Health, senior vice president and COO for Summit Health, and president and CEO of Summit Health.

WellSpan credited Mr. O'Donnell's with growing and expanding specialty services in Chambersburg, Waynesboro, Greencastle and Carlisle, Pa., eventually leading to WellSpan Health affiliating with Summit Health in November 2018.
