Jeff Walker, COO of Columbus-based James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, is leaving his role, according to The Lantern.

Mr. Walker will assume the senior vice president of transformation development role at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, Calif., effective in late February. He will join Michael Caligiuri, MD, former CEO of James Cancer Hospital at City of Hope. Dr. Caligiuri left to serve as physician-in-chief and president of City of Hope National Medical Center in November 2017.

An email from James Cancer Hospital interim CEO William Farrar and Director Raphael Pollock notes, "As the first COO and senior executive director of administration for Ohio State's cancer program, Jeff built an incredibly strong administrative and operational structure that integrates the program’s research and clinical missions." The email also states "the James has had record performance nationally both from the financial and patient-satisfaction perspectives," in part due to Mr. Walker's efforts.

In addition to his leadership role at James, Mr. Walker serves on the board of directors of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

Kris Kipp, MSN, RN, executive director of patient services and chief nursing officer at James Cancer Hospital, will take over as COO.
