ONC's CNO Judy Murphy to leave for IBM

Judy Murphy, RN, CNO and director of the office of clinical quality and safety of the ONC, announced plans to step down from her position to become CNO of IBM Healthcare Global Business Services.

Ms. Murphy joined the ONC in December 2011, serving as deputy national coordinator for programs and policy. During her tenure, Ms. Murphy helped lead the HITECH funded program offices, create the ONC's Office of Consumer eHealth and launch the "Blue Button: Download your Health Data" campaign.

Her resignation is effective Oct. 17. Other ONC nurses will take over CNO duties until a permanent replacement is named.

Additionally, Jon White, MD, who oversees health IT projects at the Federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, will work part-time with ONC as interim lead of OCQS. Andrew Gettinger, MD, from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., will lead the OCQS safety team.
