NYU Winthrop Hospital CEO John Collins to retire, ending 10-year tenure

John F. Collins, president and CEO of NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, N.Y., plans to retire, effective Nov. 30.

Mr. Collins has served as president and CEO since 2009, and he has been a member of the hospital's leadership team for 20-plus years.

During his tenure as president and CEO, the hospital's revenue doubled, to about $1.7 billion, and the number of employees grew from about 6,000 to 9,500 . He also oversaw the construction of the 95,000-square-foot Research and Academic Center, and played a key role in the creation of the NYU Long Island School of Medicine in Mineola, a collaboration with New York University and NYU Langone Health, both in New York City.

Prior to serving in the hospital's top post, Mr. Collings was COO and CFO of the hospital. He was formerly CFO at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, N.Y.

Joseph Greco, MD, CMO of the hospital, will become senior vice president and executive director after Mr. Collings' retirement to lead efforts at NYU Winthrop Hospital.
