Northwell changes up leadership in eastern region: 6 things to know

Kelly Gooch -

Great Neck, N.Y.-based Northwell Health has shuffled top executives in a move aimed at bolstering the leadership of its eastern region.

The eastern region consists of: Glen Cove (N.Y.) Hospital, Syosset (N.Y.) Hospital, Plainview (N.Y.) Hospital, Amityville, N.Y.-based South Oaks Hospital, Huntington (N.Y.) Hospital, Bay Shore, N.Y.-based Southside Hospital, and Riverhead, N.Y.-based Peconic Bay Medical Center.

Here are six things to know about the leadership changes.

1. Kevin Beiner, previously deputy regional executive director of the health system's western region in Manhattan, N.Y., has been named senior vice president and deputy regional executive director of the eastern region.

2. Northwell has appointed Jay Enden, MD, the long-time medical director of Southside Hospital, as medical director of the eastern region.

3. Robert Scanlon, MD, previously associate CMO of Southside Hospital, will succeed Dr. Enden as medical director at Southside Hospital.

4. Lenny Nartowicz, previously associate executive director of finance at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y., has been named executive director of The Long Island Home, which operates South Oaks Hospital and Broadlawn Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Amityville.

5. Mr. Nartowicz will succeed Patricia Porter, who will be retiring later this year. Ms. Porter has worked at Long Island Home since 1996 in numerous roles — chief administrative officer, CFO, COO and, most recently, as executive director.

6. In a prepared statement, Winnie Mack, RN, senior vice president and executive director of the eastern region, commented on the leadership changes. "Our ability to be agile and adaptable to changing circumstances has enabled us to provide exceptional care to the communities we serve," she said. "As we look forward, a cornerstone of this strategy is identifying and developing internal talent with the potential to fill key leadership positions in our organization."
