New York City-based Mount Sinai Beth Israel selected Matthew A. Weissman, MD, to serve as chair of department of medicine as well as senior faculty in internal medicine and pediatrics at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, also in New York City.
Here are four points:
1. Dr. Weissman most recently served as CMO of Community Healthcare Network, a federally qualified health center network in New York City.
2. He is co-chair of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Citywide Colon Cancer Control Coalition.
3. In addition to his medical degree, he holds an MBA from Boston-based Tufts University.
4. As medicine department chair, Dr. Weissman will lead 175 employed faculty and 120-plus residents and postdoctoral fellows.
