Methodist Health System drops 'interim' from CEO Jim Scoggin's title: 5 things to know

Dallas-based Methodist Health System has selected Jim Scoggin to serve as CEO.

Five things to know:

1. Mr. Scoggin was named interim CEO of the health system in April.

2. He began his healthcare career at insurer Humana and later joined Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, as COO.

3. He also served as CEO of Methodist Hospital in San Antonio — before taking on responsibility for two additional hospitals — and was executive vice president of the Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio.

4. Mr. Scoggin retired as president of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare's North Texas Division in September 2013 then later came out of retirement to become interim CEO of Methodist Health System.

5. Mr. Scoggin succeeds Stephen Mansfield, PhD, who retired from Methodist Health System in April.
