Mike Poore, regional president of Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Lutheran Health Network, is resigning, effective by the end of the month, according to Inside Indiana Business.
In a letter to employees obtained by Inside Indiana Business, Mr. Poore said that he is planning to "return home."
"It was difficult to reach this decision, and it is equally hard to share this news with you now because it had been my intention to be a part of the LHN team for much longer," Mr. Poore wrote. "But I believe this is the right decision for me and for my family at this time in our lives, and I hope you will understand."
Mr. Poore became regional president and CEO of the health network in 2017. He took over after Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, parent company of Lutheran Health Network, fired former president and CEO Brian Bauer.
However, Mr. Poore gave up the CEO title in January and started looking for a leader to help oversee the system while he focused on strategic initiatives.
Prior to taking on the leadership role at Lutheran Health Network, Mr. Poore was vice president of operations for CHS Professional Services Corp.
Over the next few weeks, Mr. Poore will transition his responsibilities to Mark Medley, who became Lutheran Health Network's market CEO in March.
"Since arriving in northeastern Indiana, Mark has quickly assessed important opportunities for LHN, and I'm confident that his experience and vision will accelerate progress in many areas," Mr. Poore wrote in the letter to employees.
