Kelly Gooch -

St. Louis-based SSM Health has picked Kate Becker, JD, to serve as president of Saint Louis University Hospital, according to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch report.

Here are four things to know about Ms. Becker.

1. Ms. Becker will take over as president once the sale of SLU Hospital, which is currently owned by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, to SSM Health is complete. The deal is scheduled to close later in 2015.

2. Ms. Becker will succeed Phillip Sowa, who has served as the medical center's CEO since 2011. Earlier this week, Mr. Sowa announced his departure following the sale.

3. Ms. Becker has ties to Saint Louis University and SSM Health, according to the report. She is currently president of SSM Health's St. Mary's Health Center in St. Louis and the interim leader of SSM Health's Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center, also in St. Louis. Prior to taking her current post with SSM Health, she was CEO of SLUCare, Saint Louis University's medical group practice.

4. According to the report, a national search is underway to find a replacement for Ms. Becker at St. Mary's and Cardinal Glennon.
