Green Valley Hospital CEO to leave post: 3 things to know

David Wanger, CEO of Green Valley (Ariz.) Hospital, is leaving his post, according to a Green Valley News & Sun report.

Here are three things to know about Mr. Wanger.

1. He is being replaced by David Covert, who has experience in medical facilities including St. Luke's Medical Center in Phoenix and Tempe (Ariz.) St. Luke's Hospital; Banner Surgery Centers in Arizona, Colorado and Nevada; Medcath's Phoenix-based Western region; and Chandler (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center, according to the report. Most recently, he worked as a consultant for hospital-based physicians groups and hospital systems. Mr. Covert, who has a consulting contract, started at Green Valley Hospital Jan. 5, according to Jim McDowell, hospital board president and founder of McDowell Enterprises, the hospital's developer.

2. Mr. Wanger, who was hired by McDowell Enterprises in November 2013 and had a three-year contract, is set to leave his post Jan. 28. He could leave earlier depending on how long the transition takes, according to Mr. McDowell.

3. Details about Mr. Wanger's departure were not disclosed.
