Dogwood Health Trust, a North Carolina-based private foundation, has selected Antony Chiang as its first CEO, effective in November.

The Dogwood Health Trust was established at the start of 2019 as a health conversion foundation to receive proceeds from Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA's purchase of Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health. The sale will total about $1.5 billion. The foundation will use the money to support organizations focused on improving the health of communities in western North Carolina.

Mr. Chiang is the founding president at Spokane, Wash.-based Empire Health Foundation, also a health conversion foundation. While there, he oversaw $70 million in annual funding that was invested in advancing health equity.

Mr. Chiang is a member of the board of directors of Grantmakers in Health and the national advisory board of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Culture of Health Prize.

He holds a law degree from Stanford (Calif.) University.
