Englewood Hospital and Medical Center names CNO: 5 things to know

Englewood (N.J.) Hospital and Medical Center has named Mary Ann Donohue-Ryan, PhD, RN, BSN, CNO.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Donohue-Ryan.

1. As CNO, Dr. Donohue-Ryan will oversee the nursing department and its patient care services and operations, including working with physician leaders, hospital leadership, and the entire nursing team.

2, Most recently, she was chief patient care services officer at Stony Brook (N.Y.) University Hospital on Long Island.

3. Previously, she has served in nursing leadership positions at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City, N.J., Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, N.J., and Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center.

4. Dr. Donohue-Ryan is a former president of the New Jersey State Nurses Association and has consulted nationally and internationally for the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet Recognition Program.

5. She earned a bachelor's degree from Jersey City (N.J.) State College, now New Jersey City University, and a Master of Arts in nursing from New York University, based in New York City. She earned her doctorate in nursing from Adelphi University, based in Garden City, N.Y., and nurse practitioner certificate from New York City-based Columbia University.
