Michael Collins, CEO of Manchester-based Eastern Connecticut Health Network, will retire in October, according to a Hartford Business report.

Drew Crandall, a member of the network's advisory board broke the news in a column for the Journal Inquirer, writing "[Mr. Collins] will be retiring to Maine in October, on the heels of his wife's recent retirement from a career in healthcare."

The two-hospital network confirmed the news to Hartford Business Aug. 20.

Mr. Collins began serving as chief integration officer of Eastern Connecticut Health Network in March 2016, after Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings, a for-profit company, bought the network. He became the network's interim CEO in October 2016 and its permanent leader in July 2017.

He has more than 30 years of healthcare experience in Massachusetts, including at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boston, Hartford Business reports.
