Cone Health announces 6 leadership changes — COO to retire

Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health announced six leadership transitions.

Here are five notes:

1. The health system's COO Judy Schanel and Executive Vice President of People and Corporate Services Noel Burt, PhD, are retiring, effective in 2019.

2. Mary Jo Cagle, MD, Cone Health's chief clinical officer, will take over as COO. The health system plans to expand and reconfigure the role.

3. Joan Evans, executive vice president of innovation and transformation, will become chief of staff prior to her formal retirement sometime in the next two years.

4. Kenneth Rempher, PhD, RN, will become executive vice president of acute care services, in addition to his current role as chief nurse executive at Cone Health.

5. Mandy Eaton, vice president of human resources, will assume the chief HR officer role.

"These new roles will become effective at various times over the next several months as we work to ensure a smooth transition," said Terry Akin, CEO of Cone Health.
