Children's Mercy Kansas City COO resigns for new opportunity: 5 things to know

Karen Cox, BSN, MSN, PhD, left her position as executive vice president and COO of Children's Mercy Kansas City (Mo.) to join Downers Grove, Ill.-based Chamberlain University Aug. 27.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Cox will serve as president of Chamberlain University.

2. Prior to serving as COO of Children's Mercy Kansas City, she was senior vice president for patient care services and chief nursing officer.

3. She is president of the American Academy of Nursing.

4. Dr. Cox is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

5. She has served as board chair of the National Initiative for Children's Health Quality.
