CHI, Dignity Health name 2 CEOs, 13 leaders to executive team of merged entity: 7 things to know

Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives and San Francisco-based Dignity Health have selected the leadership team for the organization created by its merger, CommonSpirit Health.

Here are seven things to know:

1. Kevin E. Lofton, CEO of CHI, and Lloyd H. Dean, president and CEO of Dignity Health, will serve as CEOs of CommonSpirit Health.

2. They will lead the combined organization comprised of 150,000-plus caregivers and support teams as well as more than 700 care sites and 139 hospitals.

3. Mr. Dean will oversee all of the clinical, financial and human resources arenas as well as all of the operations of the new organization, while Mr. Lofton will be responsible for advocacy, compliance, digital strategy, IT, international business, legal services, philanthropy, mission, system partnerships as well as sponsorship and governance.

4. CommonSpirit Health's leadership team will also include:

• President and COO: Marvin O'Quinn
• CFO: Daniel Morissette
• CIO: Deanna Wise
• CMO: Robert Wiebe, MD
• Chief nursing officer: Kathleen Sanford, RN
• Chief business lines officer: Paul Edgett
• Chief strategy and transformation officer: Charles Francis
• Chief mission officer: Thomas Kopfensteiner
• Chief legal officer: Mitch Melfi
• Chief HR officer: Darryl Robinson
• Chief administrative officer (supporting Lloyd Dean): Elizabeth Shih
• Chief administrative officer (supporting Kevin Lofton): Patricia Webb
• Senior vice president of physician enterprise: Bruce Swartz

5. The leaders will assume their positions once the merger is complete. The merger is set to close Dec. 31.

6. CHI and Dignity Health signed a definitive agreement to merge Dec. 7, 2017.

7. The California Department of Justice conditionally approved the proposed merger Nov. 21.
