CEO, chief nursing officer out at Emanuel Medical Center: 8 notes

Anuja Vaidya -

Turlock, Calif.-based Emanuel Medical Center CEO Sue Micheletti and Chief Nursing Officer Sony Sidhu are no longer working at the hospital, according to a report by The Modesto Bee.

Here are eight notes:

1. Warren Kirk, CEO of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare's Central Valley market, sent out a memo letting Emanuel Medical Center staff know about the sudden departures. He did not mention the reason behind the leadership change.

2. A spokesperson from Tenet, which is Emanuel Medical Center's parent, said "the company would not have further comment out of respect for employee privacy," according to the report.

3. Neither Ms. Micheletti nor Mr. Sindhu gave a comment to The Modesto Bee.

4. Ms. Micheletti served as CEO of Emanuel Medical Center since 2014, when the facility became a part of Tenet. In his memo, Mr. Kirk "thanked [Ms.] Micheletti for playing a pivotal role in bringing Emanuel into the Tenet fold," the report notes. He also wrote Tenet wishes Ms. Micheletti and Mr. Sindhu well in their future endeavors.

5. However, some people believe Ms. Micheletti and Mr. Sindhu were ousted, The Modesto Bee reports.

6. Jeffrey Lewis, CEO of the nonprofit created by Tenet's acquisition of Emanuel Medical Center, Legacy Health Endowment, said Tenet allowing nurses to unionize last year put Ms. Micheletti and Mr. Sindhu in a tough spot. Soon after the nurses voted to join California Nurses Association/National Nurses United, nearly 400 employees at the medical center also voted in favor of unionization.

7. Lani Dickinson will serve as interim CEO and acting chief nursing officer at Emanuel Medical Center.

8. Ms. Dickinson's prior experience includes serving as COO of Lakewood (Calif.) Regional Medical Center and chief nursing officer at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, Calif.
