Cancer Institute at UAMS taps executive director of community outreach and engagement

Corey Johnson has been appointed executive director of community outreach and engagement at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

Mr. Johnson will oversee a team of health educators and care coordinators working with underserved communities, according to a Sept. 20 news release. 

Mr. Johnson brings more than 25 years of healthcare and community service experience to the role. He most recently served as executive director of community health and well-being at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

"Corey has extensive experience and passion for serving his community and building partnerships to ensure that all Arkansans receive the cancer prevention and care services they need to thrive," said Pearl McElfish, PhD, associate director of community outreach and engagement and vice chancellor for UAMS Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville, Ark. "I'm thrilled to have someone with his level of expertise and devotion to the community join our team."
