Bronson Healthcare CEO Frank Sardone to retire at end of year

Frank J. Sardone, president and CEO of Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Bronson Healthcare, is planning to retire at the end of 2019, ending a 23-year tenure.

Mr. Sardone became president and CEO of the health system in 1996. He led the hospital's growth from a one-hospital system with a network of outpatient clinics to a four-hospital system with 9,200-plus employees and 90 care locations. He joined Bronson Healthcare's administrative team in 1988.

During his tenure, Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo received several honors, including the American Hospital Association's McKesson Quest for Quality Prize, Magnet status for nursing excellence and the American College of Healthcare Architects' Legacy Project Award.

Mr. Sardone is a board member of the Kalamazoo Community Foundation and a past chair of the Michigan Health & Hospital Association.
