Bridgeport Hospital CEO leaves to lead Pennsylvania hospital

Leo Vartorella -

William Jennings will leave his positions as president and CEO of Bridgeport (Conn.) Hospital and executive vice president of Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health to become president and CEO of Reading (Penn.) Hospital, according to Westfair Online.

Mr. Jennings will assume his new position Oct. 15, and Michael Ivy, MD, will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found. Dr. Ivy has served as the hospital's chief medical officer since 2012 and the CMO of Yale New Haven health since 2016.

"I was not looking to leave Fairfield County, Bridgeport Hospital or Yale New Haven Health," said Mr. Jennings. "But this is an opportunity to help grow Reading Hospital and Tower Health, which is a nascent system that didn’t even exist a couple of years ago."

Tower Health was formed in October 2017 after Reading Hospital acquired five other hospitals in the area from Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.
