Staff -

Beth Hughes left her post this week as president of Boston-based Steward Health Care System's flagship hospital after about a year, The Boston Globe reports.

Longtime Steward executive Joseph Ciccolo will fill in for Ms. Hughes as interim president and St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Brighton. He will be the sixth leader of the hospital in six years, according to the report.

Steward did not disclose why Ms. Hughes left St. Elizabeth's and she could not be reached for comment, according to the report.

Steward is the largest for-profit hospital chain in Massachusetts. It includes nine hospitals. St. Elizabeth Medical center houses 267 beds and has more than 2,500 employees, The Boston Globe reported.
