Bellin Health System CEO to retire, ending 26-year tenure

Green Bay, Wis.-based Bellin Health System President and CEO George Kerwin plans to retire this year.

Mr. Kerwin became president and CEO of the health system in 1992 after serving as,senior vice president and COO. He joined the organization in 1971 as director of housekeeping and admissions.

During Mr. Kerwin's tenure, the health system developed a heart and vascular program and created a health foundation. The organization also added numerous facilities, including Oconto (Wis.) Hospital and Clinic. However, Bellin Health recently terminated its asset purchase agreement with Iron Mountain, Mich.-based Dickinson County Healthcare System.

Chris Woleske, current executive vice president and COO of Bellin Health, will succeed Mr. Kerwin as president and CEO Oct. 1.

Ms. Woleske has worked at Bellin Health since 1998, assuming her current role in 2016. She previously worked as an attorney.

"I look forward to continuing the strong leadership that George has demonstrated and continue to work toward the Bellin mission to improve the health and wellbeing of every person in our region."
