Barnabas Health names chief pharmacy officer: 5 things to know

West Orange, N.J.-based Barnabas Health has named Robert T. Adamson, PharmD, chief pharmacy officer, effective immediately.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Adamson.

1. In his new role, Dr. Adamson oversees and provides strategic leadership for all of the corporate pharmacy services throughout the system, including the six Barnabas Health retail pharmacies.

2. In making the announcement, John F. Bonamo, MD, Barnabas Health executive vice president and CMO, touted Dr. Adamson as "supremely qualified." "His deep understanding of pharmaceutical services and his national and international relationships will ensure that our pharmacy professionals are at the forefront in caring for our patients," he said of Dr. Adamson.

3. Dr. Adamson held the position of Barnabas Health corporate vice president of clinical pharmacy services since 2001.  He served as vice president of IDEAS, a Barnabas Health medical communications company, from 2004 to 2013.

4. Dr. Adamson has conducted several disease research studies in the areas of infectious disease, oncology and oncology supportive care and various internal medicine subjects. 

5. In addition to publishing his research in prestigious medical journals, he serves on the editorial board of Pharmacy Practice News, is a reviewer for both the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy, and has presented his work at more than 500 medical conferences nationally and internationally, in addition to authoring articles in peer-reviewed journals and book contributions.
