Baptist Health names 2 new system leaders

Little Rock, Ark.-based Baptist Health made two leadership appointments.

The health system named Doug Weeks executive vice president of strategy and innovation, a newly created position. He will also serve as corporate administrative officer, overseeing the Arkansas Health Group, Baptist Health Foundation, human resources and IT, among other arenas.

Mr. Weeks most recently served as executive vice president and COO of Baptist Health. He joined the health system in 1989 and has since served in several executive positions, including as senior vice president of hospital operations and administrator of Baptist Health-Little Rock and Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute in Little Rock. He holds a master's degree in hospital administration from New Orleans-based Tulane University.

Baptist Health selected Duane Erwin to serve as senior vice president of hospital operations. He was previously CEO of Aspirus, a six-hospital health system in Wausau, Wis. He has also served as interim CEO for hospitals within St. Louis-based Ascension and Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health.

Mr. Erwin is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds a juris doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh.
