Baptist Health Louisville CNO to retire in June: 4 notes

Karen Profitt Newman, EdD, RN, vice president and chief nursing officer of Baptist Health Louisville (Ky.), is retiring, effective June 30 after 20 years of service at the hospital.

Four notes:

1. Dr. Newman assumed her current role at Baptist Health Louisville in 1999.

2. During her tenure, the hospital achieved three consecutive Magnet designations from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

3. She has prior experience as vice president of patient care services at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky., and at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Ky.

4. Dr. Newman has served as an adjunct faculty member at Louisville-based Bellarmine University's Lansing School of Nursing and an assistant professor of nursing in the RN to BSN program at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro.
