Baptist Health Chief Compliance Officer Donald Riggs to retire

Donald R. Riggs, chief compliance officer of Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Health, plans to retire at the end of the year after 27 years with the health system.

Mr. Riggs helped form the health system's compliance team in 2013 and has served as its leader since then. Prior to that, he was vice president of compliance, privacy and audit. He joined Baptist Health in 1992 as an internal auditor and formed the health system's first internal audit department.

Mr. Riggs heads the Kentucky Hospital Association Compliance Officer Roundtable.

Marea Aspillaga, Baptist Health's system director of compliance and privacy, will succeed Mr. Riggs Jan. 1. Ms. Aspillaga has also been heading Baptist's Health's internal audit program for the last year.

Will Renda, a regional director of professional practice compliance and privacy at Baptist Health, will replace Ms. Aspillaga. Mr. Renda has worked at Baptist Health for 17 years.
