Baptist Health CFO to retire

Kelly Gooch -

Carl Herde, vice president and CFO of Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Health, plans to retire this fall.

Mr. Herde will step down Sept. 30 following a 32-year career at Baptist. His successor will be Stephen R. Oglesby, vice president of financial strategy and integration at Baptist, who will become CFO Sept. 1. The overlap intends to provide for a smooth transition.

Mr. Herde began his career at Baptist as corporate controller. He was named vice president and CFO in 1993.

During his tenure, Baptist has grown from a five-hospital organization to a more than $2 billion system, according to CEO Steve Hanson.

Mr. Herde has also served as chairman of the Kentucky Medicaid Technical Advisory Committee since 2006 and is on the board of the American Excess Insurance Exchange.
