Johnson City, Tenn.-based Ballad Health appointed Paula Masters vice president of health programs, effective in April.
Ballad Health is the result of a merger between Kingsport, Tenn.-based Wellmont Health System and Johnson City, Tenn.-based Mountain States Health Alliance.
Here are five points:
1. Ms. Masters most recently served as assistant dean of student services at Johnson City-based East Tennessee State University's College of Public Health.
2. She formerly served as president of the Tennessee Public Health Association and previously received its Doris Spain Award for Distinguished Service.
3. She will join Ballad Health's newly created office of population health.
4. Ms. Masters will lead the office's health programs department, which implement health improvement programs throughout the health system.
5. The health programs department will also administer Ballad Health's $75 million investment in population health. This investment was agreed to under the Certificate of Public Advantage and Cooperative Agreement with the State of Tennessee and the Commonwealth of Virginia that finalized the creation of Ballad Health.
