Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health is in the midst of significant changes in its leadership team, according to a News-Press report. In addition to longtime CEO Jim Nathan's retirement plans announced last week, four other executives are also retiring.
The retirement announcements come with plans to phase-out some leadership roles and consolidate other positions.
Here are nine things to know:
1. Fort Myers-based HealthPark Medical Center's Chief Administrative Officer and Lee Health's Chief Patient Care Officer Donna Giannuzzi is retiring, effective June 1. She has been with Lee Health for 40 years.
2. Lisa Sgarlata, chief administrative officer for Lee Memorial Hospital, will replace Ms. Giannuzzi as Lee Health's chief patient care officer.
3. Chief administrative officer roles at both HealthPark Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital will be eliminated.
4. Fort Myers-based Golisano Children's Hospital Chief Administrative Officer Kathy Bridge-Liles plans to retire, effective July 28, ending a 25-year tenure with the organization.
5. Armando Llechu, a senior executive at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami, will take over once Ms. Bridge-Liles departs.
6. Sharon MacDonald, Lee Health's chief administrative officer for oncology and head of Lee Health Foundation will be retiring on May 26.
7. Kristine Fay, chief administrative officer for the Lee Physician Group, and Dennis Bruens, vice president of operations at St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City, Colo, will take over Ms. MacDonald's duties.
8. Charles A. Krivenko, MD, Lee Health's CMO for clinical services and chief patient safety officer, is retiring, effective June 1. He has been with Lee Health for nearly two decades.
9. Alex Daneshmand, DO, medical director of clinical quality and safety at Golisano Children's Hospital, will succeed Dr. Krivenko as chief patient safety officer.
The board has yet to name a successor for Mr. Nathan, who is set to retire on June 1.The aforementioned retirements may influence the board to quicken the process of selecting a new permanent CEO, according to the report.
