9 recent hospital, health system CEO moves

Becker's Hospital Review reported the following hospital and health system CEO moves in the last week.

The executives are listed below, alphabetically.

1. Odessa, Texas-based Medical Center Health System selected Robert Abernethy to serve as interim CEO, effective June 17.

2. Mark J. Francis, president and CEO of Fruita, Colo.-based Family Health West Hospital, plans to retire in September.

3. San Francisco-based Dignity Health tapped David Klein, MD, as president and CEO of St. Mary's Medical Center, also in San Francisco, effective June 18.

4. Mark H. Merrill, president and CEO of Winchester, Va.-based Valley Health System, plans to retire next year.

5. Kim Milstien, CEO of Ventura (Calif.) County Medical Center and the affiliated Santa Paula (Calif.) Hospital, will resign, effective July 12.

6. Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health has selected Chad Patrick to serve as CEO of 763-bed Mission Hospital, also in Asheville, effective in mid-July.

7. Dallas-based Medical City Healthcare named Carlton Ulmer CEO of Medical City Plano (Texas) and Medical City Frisco (Texas), effective July 22.

8. Baton Rouge, La.-based Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System appointed Richard R. Vath, MD, president and CEO.

9. Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare named Matt Wain CEO of Emory University Hospital, Emory University Orthopaedics & Spine Hospital and Emory University Hospital at Wesley Woods, effective Aug. 19.
