5 recent hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves occurred within the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. Joseph Trunfio, PhD, president and CEO of Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System, announced his retirement. Dr. Trunfio will serve until the health system names a replacement, and the board is currently conducting a national search.

2. Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health System announced the appointment of Anne Boland Docimo, MD, MBA, as CMO. In her role as CMO, Dr. Docimo will work with Jefferson leadership to develop a fully integrated, patient-centric faculty practice plan with an emphasis on expanding and growing relationships with employed and independent physicians. Dr. Docimo previously served as CMO for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Health Plan and as senior medical director for the hospital division of UPMC.

3. Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Health named Patrick F. Jordan COO of Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, the health system's flagship hospital, effective Oct. 15. In his role as COO, Mr. Jordan will focus on maintaining the efficiency of hospital operations with attention on integrating quality, patient safety and patient satisfaction in all areas of the organization. Mr. Jordan previously served as COO of Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Mass.

4. Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System CEO Nancy Schlichting announced she will retire from her role in Dec. 2016. Oakland, Calif.-based Alameda Health System CEO Wright L. Lassiter will join Henry Ford as president, effective Dec. 15. Mr. Lassiter has offered to stay on the executive board at AHS until Dec. 12.

5. Capella Healthcare, a 13-hospital for-profit health system based in Franklin, Tenn., named Angie L. Mulder corporate compliance officer. Ms. Mulder most recently served as senior director of ethics and compliance for LifePoint Hospitals. She has more than 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare.
