In the wake of a scandal involving several members of its board, four University of Maryland Medical System leaders are planning to leave their roles, effective June 21.
The departing leaders are:
• Keith Persinger, senior vice president and chief performance improvement officer
• Megan M. Arthur, senior vice president and general counsel
• Jerry Wollman, senior vice president and chief administrative officer
• Christine Bachrach, vice president and chief compliance officer
"I am grateful to each of these individuals for their contribution and tenured service to the organization," said John Ashworth interim president and CEO of the Baltimore-based system. "I am keenly focused on building a strong foundation for the future for our patients and team members."
The health system declined to answer further questions about the resignations from Becker's Hospital Review.
The resignation announcement comes a little over a month after Robert A. Chrencik, former president and CEO of the health system, resigned.
Since March, University of Maryland Medical System has been dealing with aftermath of a scandal involving board members who profited from deals with the health system while serving on the board. In all, six board members stepped down, including former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh and former Board Chair Stephen Burch. Soon after news of her deals came to light, Ms. Pugh resigned as mayor of the city.
The board recently approved a new conflict-of-interest policy for its members.
