15 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Richard Cleland was removed from his position as CEO of Buffalo, N.Y.-based Erie County Medical Center Corp. In addition to Mr. Cleland's departure, ECMC COO Mary Laski Hoffman, RN, BSN, resigned. 

2. El Rio Community Hospital in Tucson, Ariz., appointed Nancy Johnson, PhD, CIO.

3. The University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington appointed Doug Gentile, MD, CMIO.

4. Worcester, Mass.-based Spectrum Health Systems named Robert Brandner as its first CIO.

5. Karl Hittle, CEO of New Braunfels, Texas-based management firm Endeavor Healthcare, was hired as interim CEO of Graham (Texas) Regional Medical Center.

6. Richard Goldberg, MD, president of Washington, D.C.-based MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, is leaving his job for a promotion with Columbia, Md.-based MedStar Health.

7. Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston, Ga., named Mark Hartman interim CEO.

8. Rush Health, a network of Chicago-area physicians and hospitals, hired new health IT leaders and a new medical leader.  Rush Health appointed Julie Bonello CIO. Rush Health also appointed Michael Raymond, MD, CMO.

9. Stanford (Calif.) Health Care named Mariann Byerwalter interim president and CEO.

10. Nick Desien, senior vice president of Ascension Health's Wisconsin Ministry market, is retiring.

11. Boulder (Colo.) Community Health appointed Robert Vissers, MD, president and CEO.

12. Grand River Health in Rifle, Colo., promoted Anastasia Pemberton, RN, to CNO.

13. Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton, Okla., named Jayne Thomas CNO.

14. The new system formed by the merger of Baptist Health System and Brookwood Medical Center, both in Birmingham, Ala., named its executive management team. BHS CEO Keith Parrott will serve as CEO; former Brookwood Medical Center CFO Doug Carter will serve as CFO; Greg Johnston will serve as COO; Elizabeth Ennis, MD, will serve as CMO; Scott Fenn will serve as chief integration officer; Mark Williams, MD, will serve as chief physician executive; Teresa Shufflebarger will serve as chief business development officer; and Beth Francis will serve as chief human resources officer.

15. Cincinnati-based TriHealth named Gail Donovan COO.
