5 recent hospital, health system CEO moves

The following hospital and health system CEO moves have recently been reported by Becker's:

May 24-30

1. Doug Harcombe was named CEO of the planned AdventHealth hospital at Lake Nona in Orlando, Fla., in addition to his role as CEO of the health system's South market. 

2. Amanda Maggard was named CEO of AdventHealth Celebratiom (Fla.). 

3. Kyle Marek has been promoted from interim to permanent president and CEO of Morehead City, N.C.-based Carteret Health Care, a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. 

4. Dan Grigg was named CEO of Wallowa Memorial Hospital in Enterprise, Ore.

5. Chris Blair, BSN, was named CEO of Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville (Ark.) after serving in an interim capacity. 

May 17-23

1. Todd Burch is stepping down as president and CEO of McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey to pursue other opportunities. 

2. Maureen Kahn, MSN, RN, will transition out of her role as president and CEO of Quincy, Ill.-based Blessing Health on July 1, approximately three months earlier than previously announced.

3. Jen Schuck was named CEO of Emory Decatur (Ga.) Hospital, Emory Hillandale Hospital in Lithonia, Ga., and Emory Long-Term Acute Care in Decatur, all part of Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare. 

4. Jenny Hardee, BSN, was named CEO of McLeod Health Dillon (S.C.). 

5. Ben Richaud was named CEO of Lakeview Hospital in Covington, La., now part of New Orleans-based LCMC Health.

6. Brandon Haushalter resigned as CEO of HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in Miami for another opportunity outside of HCA Healthcare. Ben Harris was named the new CEO.

May 10-16

1. Jared Stimpson was named CEO of Tell City, Ind.-based Perry County Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of Evansville, Ind.-based Deaconess Health System. 

2. Travis Leach was named CEO of West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho. 

3. Samuel Weller was named CEO of Renown South Meadows Medical Center and Renown Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Reno, Nev.

4. Clint Seger, MD, has been promoted from interim to permanent CEO of Billings (Mont.) Clinic.

5. Monica Hum, MD, has been promoted from chief medical officer to CEO of Piedmont Rockdale Hospital in Conyers, Ga.

6. Greg Wood is retiring as CEO of Laurinburg, N.C.-based Scotland Health on Dec. 31. 

7. Reed Hammond was named CEO of HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare. 

8. Darren Bass was named CEO of Saint Luke's Health System's north region, where he will oversee two hospitals. The health system is based in Kansas City, Mo. 

9. Ken West was named CEO of HCA Florida JFK Hospital in Atlantis, part of HCA Healthcare. 

10. Ben Harris was named CEO of HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in Miami, part of HCA Healthcare. 

11. Doug Harcombe was named CEO of AdventHealth's planned Lake Nona facility in Orlando, Fla.

12. Amanda Maggard was named CEO of AdventHealth Celebration in Kissimmee, Fla., replacing Doug Harcombe as he takes his new role. 

13. Iris Yeldell Stacker has been promoted from interim to permanent CEO of Greenville, Miss.-based Delta Health System. 

14. Patrick Green was named CEO of UF Health Jacksonville (Fla.). 

15. Paul Clabuesch will retire as president CEO of Harbor Beach (Mich.) Community Hospital on June 30. 

16. Steve Nierman has left his role as CEO of HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton, part of HCA Healthcare. COO Paige Laughlin has been named interim CEO. 

17. Michael Ellis will retire as CEO of Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana, Texas, on May 26. 

May 3-9

1. Jeremy Ensey has resigned as CEO of St. Luke Hospital and Living Center in Marion, Kan., telling a news outlet he feels his career is being led in another direction. He will remain at the hospital through the late July. 

2. Matt Littlejohn was named CEO of Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC Health's Midlands division.

3. Tanya Sharp has resigned as CEO of Boone County Health Center in Albion, Neb. Kristie Stricklin, the hospital's vice president of clinic services, was named interim CEO.

4. Nathan Howell was named president and CEO of Augusta-based MaineGeneral Health.

5. Saba Habis, MD, was named CEO of West Hills (Calif.) Hospital, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare. 

6. Leslie Barnes will retire as CEO of Pueblo, Colo.-based Parkview Health System on May 31. Vice President and COO Darrin Smith will succeed her.

April 24-May 2

1. Art Mathisen was selected as the next president and CEO of Hermiston, Ore.-based Good Shepherd Health Care System.

2. Richard Isaacs, MD, is set to leave Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente after a 28-year run with the system to join California Northstate University as the dean of its medical school. Dr. Isaacs has served as CEO and executive director of The Permanente Medical Group and president and CEO of the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group since 2017. 

3. Joon Sup Lee, MD, was named CEO of Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare.

4. Christopher Munton was named CEO of Wilson (N.C.) Medical Center.

5. David Cheney was named CEO of Flagstaff-based Northern Arizona Healthcare.

6. Corey Lovelace was named CEO of HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital in Port St. Lucie.

7. Troy Greer stepped away from his role as president and CEO of Columbia, Mo.-based Boone Health. The organization said Mr. Greer "plans to return to Alabama to be closer to his family, a decision that the board fully supports and understands." 

April 18-23

1. Leonard Stepp Jr. was named president and CEO of Ashtabula, Ohio-based ACMC Healthcare System, an affiliate of Cleveland Clinic.

2. Barbara Rossman, BSN, CEO of Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Mich., will retire in June.

3. Walter Bennett III was named CEO of MUSC Health Orangeburg (S.C.).

4. Michael Gentry was named CEO of Dayton, Ohio-based Kettering Health.

April 12-17

1. Ty Burgess was named CEO of Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital Plano (Texas). 

2. Sean Dardeau was named CEO of Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. 

3. Bob Sutton will step down as president and CEO of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health for health reasons on Sept. 30. 

4. Kayleen Lee was promoted from interim to permanent CEO of Avera St. Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill, Neb.

5. Fred Valtairo, BSN, RN, was named CEO of Placentia-Linda (Calif.) Hospital, part of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare.

6. Michael Alexander was named CEO of Hillsboro (Ill.) Area Hospital. 

7. Scott Klein, MD, was named president and CEO of Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore. 

8. Pablo Velez, PhD, RN, was named CEO of El Centro (Calif.) Regional Medical Center. 

9. Mike Geeslin will step down as president and CEO of Austin, Texas-based Central Health by the end of 2023. 

10. David Schultz was named president and CEO of Albuquerque, N.M.-based Lovelace Health System. 

11. Michael Charlton was named interim president and CEO of Atlantic City, N.J.-based AtlantiCare.

April 5-11 

1. Paul Hancock, MD, MBA, was named CEO of Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare. 

2. Jason Fish, MD, was named CEO of New Haven, Conn.-based Yale Health. 

3. Jamie Yoo was named president and CEO of Los Angeles-based CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.

4. Lynn Buskill, chief operating officer of John C. Fremont Healthcare District in Mariposa, Calif., was named interim CEO.

5. Tom Clancy, PhD, RN, was named president and CEO of Mercy Iowa City (Iowa). 

6. Wally De Aquino was named president and CEO of AdventHealth Palm Coast (Fla.) Parkway, a new hospital under construction. 

7. Brian Herwig retired as CEO of Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City, Ind.

8. Chris Cosby was named CEO of Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Parkridge Health System, part of HCA Healthcare.

9. Donnica Austin-Cathey was named chief executive of John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. 

10. B. Konard Jones will retire as president and CEO of Fairfield, Calif.-based NorthBay Health on Dec. 31. 

March 30 - April 4 

1. Brian Ulery was named CEO of Saint Clare's Health in Denville, N.J., part of Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare.

2. Scott Evans, PharmD, was named market CEO for San Diego-based Sharp HealthCare Regional Hospitals. 

3. Sebastian Strom, MD, was named CEO of HCA Florida Largo Hospital.

4. Dave Hyatt was promoted from chief operating officer to president and CEO of Noblesville, Ind.-based Riverview Health. 

5. Stephen Bowerman was named president and CEO of Midland (Texas) Health.

6. Ronald Place, MD, was named regional president and CEO of Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., the flagship facility of Avera Health System.

7. Crystal Hayden, DNP, RN, was named president and CEO of the Kinston-based University of North Carolina Health Lenoir.

March 22-29

1. Gregg Olson will retire as CEO of Rochelle (Ill.) Community Hospital on March 31. 

2. Quentin Whitwell was named CEO of Thomasville (Ala.) Regional Medical Center. He may acquire the hospital by the end of his tenure.

3. Lori Rakes, RN, was named CEO of Piedmont Cartersville (Ga.) Medical Center, part of Atlanta-based Piedmont.

4. Archie Drake, BSN, was named CEO of Detroit-based Children's Hospital of Michigan.

5. Brenda Carlisle was named CEO of UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., after serving in an interim capacity.

6. Garett May is leaving his role as CEO of Merit Health Natchez (Miss.) to serve as chief operating officer of Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, Ala. Both hospitals are under the umbrella of Community Health Systems, based in Franklin, Tenn. 

7. Jonathan Nalli is leaving his role as CEO and ministry market executive of Indianapolis-based Ascension St. Vincent and senior vice president of St. Louis-based Ascension.

8. Lonnie Cramer was named president and CEO of Aurora, Colo.-based UCHealth's hospitals in the Pikes Peak region.

9. Esther Kwon was named CEO of Methodist Hospital Texsan in San Antonio. 

10. Steven Kalkanis, MD, was named CEO of Detroit-based Henry Ford Hospital in addition to his current role as CEO of the Henry Ford Medical Group.

11. Denise Brooks-Williams was named executive vice president and CEO of care delivery system operations for Detroit-based Henry Ford Health.

12. Perry Gay has resigned as president and CEO of Logansport (Ind.) Memorial Hospital. David Ameen, who helmed the hospital from 2010 to 2015 has left retirement to serve as interim CEO. 

13. Matko Vranjes, COO of Watsonville (Calif.) Community Hospital, was named its interim CEO. 

14. Michelle Riley-Brown was named president and CEO of Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C.

15. Joe Johnson was named president and CEO of AdventHealth Carrollwood in Tampa, Fla.

16. Erika Skula was named president and CEO of AdventHealth Ocala (Fla.).

March 16-21

1. Stonish Pierce was named president and CEO of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health's Georgia Region, which includes Athens, Ga.-based St. Mary's Health Care System and Mercy Care in Atlanta

2. Dawn Unruh, MSN, RN, was named CEO of Artesian Valley Health System in Meade, Kan. 

3. Steven Salyer will resign as CEO of Watsonville (Calif.) Community Hospital for family reasons.

4. Mark Rosenblatt, MD, PhD, was named interim CEO of Chicago-based University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics. 

5. Kimberly Boynton has stepped down as president and CEO of Syracuse, N.Y.-based Crouse Health. 

6. Barbara Nichols, RN, is retiring as CEO of Corry (Pa.) Memorial Hospital after 23 years in the role. 

7. Jonathan Schiller was named president and CEO of Middletown, N.Y.-based Garnet Health. 

March 8-15

1. Michael Zenn will step down as CEO of University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics in May and move into the new role of senior advisor for enterprise strategic initiatives within the university's office of the vice chancellor for health affairs.

2. Maralyn Militello, BSN, RN, was named the final CEO of Lockport, N.Y.-based Eastern Niagara Hospital, which is set to close in late summer. 

3. Shawn Morrow is no longer CEO of Show Low, Ariz.-based Summit Healthcare. 

4. Lori Price, RN, was named president and CEO of Mishawaka, Ind.-based Franciscan Health's central Indiana region. 

5. Tom Frank was named CEO of North Country Hospital in Newport, Vt.

6. Nancy DiLiegro, PhD, was named president and CEO of Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, N.J., part of West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health.

7. Amber Williams was named CEO of Liberal, Kan.-based Southwest Medical Center. 

8. Guy Hudson will be stepping down as CEO of Seattle-based Swedish Health Services and chief executive of Renton, Wash.-based Providence's north division. 

9. Lori Herndon, BSN, RN, is retiring as president and CEO of Atlantic City, N.J.-based AtlantiCare

10. David Bunch was named CEO of Beckley, W.Va.-based Raleigh General Hospital. 

March 1-7

1. Jay Finnegan is retiring as CEO of HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital in Port St. Lucie, Fla., part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, in April.

2. Deborah Wilson is retiring as CEO of Lawrence (Mass.) General Hospital in May. 

3. Ikenna (Ike) Mmeje was named president and CEO of USC Arcadia (Calif.) Hospital. 

4. Blake Watts was named CEO of Piedmont Walton Hospital in Monroe, Ga. 

5. Larry Ebert was named CEO of Piedmont Eastside Medical Center in Snellville, Ga.

1. Steve Gordon, MD, was named president and CEO of Bend, Ore.-based St. Charles Health System.

6. Joseph "Jody" White is retiring as CEO of Lowell (Mass.) General Hospital.

7. Nathan Staggs was selected as the next CEO of Coupeville, Wash.-based WhidbeyHealth.

1. Jason Rounds was named president and CEO of San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M.

2. Scott Kelly has retired as president and CEO of Medford, Ore.-based Asante Health following a  four-month leave of absence for health reasons.

3. Cara Beatty, MD, was selected as Providence Clinical Network chief executive for Eastern Washington and Montana.

4. Debbie Campbell has been dismissed as CEO of Thomas H. Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Ill., as the county board investigates the hospital's ambulance service. 

5. Brian Canfield was named CEO of Quincy, Ill.-based Blessing Health System. 

6. Bruce Whitfield was named CEO of Livingston (Mont.) HealthCare, an affiliate of Billings (Mont.) Clinic. 

7. Lloyd Guidry Jr., PharmD, was named CEO of Lady of the Sea General Hospital, based in Galliano, La.

8. Steve Johnson is retiring as president and CEO of Rockledge, Fla.-based Health First at the end of February. 

9. Ric Ransom was named CEO of the University of Missouri's MU Health Care, based in Columbia.  

10. Bradley Talbert, president and CEO of HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, accepted a new role as CEO of Memorial Health-Savannah (Ga.).
