President Shane Cerone: Bringing Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak National Recognition

Shane M. Cerone has served as president of Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak (Mich.) since 2009.

Mr. Cerone joined the hospital in 2008 as senior vice president and COO. Prior to joining Royal Oak-based Beaumont Health System, Mr. Cerone was with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. He held a variety of roles during his 13-year tenure there. He also served as an adjunct assistant professor in health management with the University of Iowa College of Public Health in Iowa Health.

Under Mr. Cerone's leadership, Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak has received national recognition for excellent clinical performance. For instance, in 2012, the hospital was named to Becker's Hospital Review's list of 100 Great Hospitals as well as its lists of 100 Hospitals With Great Heart Programs and 100 Hospitals with Great Neurosurgery and Spine Programs. Additionally, Beaumont Hospital is ranked as the number two hospital in the state of Michigan by U.S. News & World Report.

Mr. Cerone himself has received national recognition. For instance, he was named to Becker's Hospital Review's 2012 list of 100 Leaders of Great Hospitals.

Mr. Cerone is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Hospital Association and the Association of Medical Colleges. He earned a master's degree in health administration from the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
