CFO Pamela Hess: CFO Leadership Excellence in Middle Tennessee

When Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro hired Pamela Hess as CFO last April, the hospital's executives knew exactly the type of high-quality financial leader they were getting.

Pamela Hess is CFO of Middle Tennessee Medical Center.As vice president of finance and CFO, Ms. Hess oversees all accounting and financial aspects of the 286-bed hospital, which is also part of Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health.

Before arriving at MTMC, she was CFO of St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., which is part of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems. CHS thought highly of Ms. Hess' financial work and presented her with the 2009 CFO Leadership in Excellence award while at St. Joseph.

She has also held financial and analyst roles at several other hospitals and health systems, including Ascension Health in St. Louis and Columbia St. Mary's in Milwaukee.

"Pamela has an extensive background in healthcare finance," said Gordon Ferguson, MTMC president and CEO, after the hospital hired her. "The programs and processes she implemented at previous facilities have shown extremely positive results, and we are pleased to have her expertise at MTMC."
