CEO Kristen Murtos: Guiding Strategic Direction at Skokie Hospital

Kristen Murtos has served as president of Skokie (Ill.) Hospital, a part of NorthShore University HealthSystem, since 2009.

CEO of Skokie Hospital Kristen Murtos As president, Ms. Murtos is responsible for operations, management, strategic planning and program development at Skokie Hospital. She is currently managing an ongoing, $300 million project at Skokie Hospital to expand clinical services, enhance and improve patient care and upgrade technology. In addition to those responsibilities, she oversees corporate marketing, communications and business development activities for NorthShore.

Ms. Murtos has been with NorthShore University HealthSystem since 1998. She began her career at NorthShore serving as vice president of its medical group. She also served as senior vice president of strategy and business development for NorthShore. In that position, Ms. Murtos oversaw the integration of Skokie Hospital into the health system.

Prior to joining NorthShore, Ms. Murtos worked with Deloitte Consulting, where she assisted healthcare providers, payors and manufacturing clients with operational improvement, market strategy, delivery system integration and care management.

Ms. Murtos has served in leadership roles with the University of Chicago Graduate Program in Health Administration and Policy Executive Council, the North Shore Board of the American Cancer Society and the Evanston Chamber of Commerce. She currently serves on the board of the North Suburban Healthcare Foundation and on the Advisory Board for the Kindness Connection, which promotes volunteerism to school age children.
