CEO Jeffrey Rivest: Leading University of Maryland Medical Center to Success

Jeffrey Rivest has served as president and CEO of University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore since 2004. As president and CEO, he manages 7,400 employees; 705 licensed acute-care and intensive care unit beds, 180 chronic care beds and $1 billion in net revenue. He also oversees UMMC's Baltimore facilities, including University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center; R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center; University of Maryland Children's Hospital; and University Specialty Hospital.

This year it was named one of 100 great hospitals in the United States by Becker's Hospital Review. It also received a Gold Award from the American Heart Association as a fit-friendly company for the fourth straight year and was ranked on U.S News & World Report's Best Hospitals List.

Prior to serving as CEO of University of Maryland Medical Center, Mr. Rivest served The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for 16 years. He was senior vice president for clinical and ambulatory services from 1988 to 1990 and executive vice president and COO from 1990 to 2004. Prior to that, he served as administrator of Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore from 1983 to 1988.
