CEO James Kaskie: Overseeing Integration at Great Lakes Health System

James Kaskie was appointed president and CEO of Great Lakes Health System of Western New York in Buffalo in October 2007, the parent organization of Kaleida Health and Erie County Medical Center, both located in Buffalo.

Mr. Kaskie had been serving as president and CEO of Kaleida Health since January 2006. In 2008, as CEO of Kaleida Health and Great Lakes Health, he led the consolidation process that brought together almost $1.5 billion in revenues, 13,000 employees and nearly 2,000 physician partners. Prior to that, Mr. Kaskie led Kaleida Health in strengthening its financial resources. The system recorded budget surpluses, maintained labor agreements across 85 percent of its 10,000 employees and generated net revenue of $1.2 billion.

Mr. Kaskie joined Kaleida Health in 2004 as president and COO. Prior to that, Mr. Kaskie held executive management positions with several healthcare organizations, including Incarnate Word Health System in Saint Louis and Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives. As senior vice president of operations for CHI, he managed 40 hospitals in five states.

Mr. Kaskie has won numerous awards throughout his career. Most recently, he won the Buffalo Niagara Partnership's Innovate Leadership award.
