WikiLeaks accused of publishing sensitive medical records

Brooke Murphy -

Infamous hacker site WikiLeaks has released data detailing the private medical information of more than 100 people, according to an investigation by the Associated Press.

AP investigators found some cables published by Wikileaks contained the medical information of citizens who are not connected with nefarious or criminal activity. In some cases, AP investigators said the published medical records identified young victims of rape, sexual assault survivors, sick children or individuals suffering from psychiatric conditions.

According to the AP report, at least 124 medical records of citizens were released alongside diplomatic cables from the Saudi Foreign Ministry. AP investigators have accused WikiLeaks' authors of not adequately vetting the cables and redacting personal information before releasing the data online.

WikiLeaks did not immediately respond to AP's request for comment.
