Eighty-nine percent of providers either already have or plan to use predictive analytics within the next five years, according to a Society of Actuaries report.

For the "Predictive Analytics in Healthcare Trend Forecast" report, the Society of Actuaries surveyed 223 healthcare provider and payer executives about trends in the industry.

Here are the 10 most valuable outcomes to forecast using predictive analytics, according to provider respondents.

1. Patient satisfaction: 53 percent

2. Hospital readmissions: 48 percent

3. Staffing and workforce needs: 46 percent

4. Clinical outcomes: 41 percent

5. Patient demand and population shifts: 38 percent

6. Profitability: 37 percent

7. Cost: 36 percent

8. Diagnosis: 34 percent

9. Reimbursement: 34 percent

10. Adverse events: 29 percent
