Veterans Affairs Mobile Health Centers Deliver Care to Rural Veterans

The Veterans Affairs Department has added 20 vehicles to its fleet of mobile vet centers, bringing the total to 70, allowing rural veterans increased access to medical care, according to a Nextgov.com report.


The VA vet centers help rural veterans with limited travel capabilities receive the care they require. Any veteran enrolled the in the VA health system may receive care from the mobile health centers.

The mobile vans include sophisticated communications gear and videoconferencing equipment for telehealth services. The set-up allows access to medical records, x-ray images and physician consultations via satellite.
