UT Health, University of Texas Southwest Medical Center launch health informatics alliance

The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center have partnered to launch a collective focused on healthcare informatics, the organizations announced June 28. 

The Texas Health Informatics Alliance aims to strengthen informatics initiatives across Texas in the following areas: research, data, policy, education, standards and workforce development.

The University of Texas at Arlington is also one of the organizations that founded THIA.   

THIA's four founding members are Marion Ball, EdD, executive director of the Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics at UTA; Susan Fenton, PhD, associate dean of academic and curricular affairs at UTHealth's biomedical informatics school; Christoph Lehmann, MD, director of UT Southwestern's clinical informatics center; and Gabriela Mustata Wilson, PhD, co-director of UTA's Multi-Interprofessional Center for Health Informatics.
