The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia has upheld a 2014 ruling allowing the Federal Trade Commission to pursue a case focused on a Wyndham Hotels & Resorts data breach dating back to 2008 and 2009, according to a Junior College report.

The breach took place between 2008 and 2009; hackers obtained credit card and personal information from approximately 619,000 customers, according to the report.

Wyndham claimed the FTC went beyond its powers while pursuing the lawsuit, but the court ruled the FTC would be able to continuing pursing the case, according to the report.
